DJ Stefanie Phillips
Stefanie Phillips is a veteran San Francisco DJ who has been working SF dance floors and pushing boundaries since 1987. Her vast knowledge, storied DJ history, and impressive library of music allows her to move confidently between Deep /Electro / Progressive /Classic House, Old School, Alternative/Rock , R & B and Soul.
Stefanie began her career spinning at the Baybrick Inn (1190 Folsom) in 1987. In the same year, she took a monumental risk with friend/ promoter Nancy Kravitz when she pioneered the first weekly club (Female Trouble ) to play rock and alternative music exclusively.
She was fortunate enough to work at the two prominent and now defunct DJ record shops in SF (Record Finder and Soundworks) along with Streetlight Records which allowed her to hone her collection.
She also played at some of the first raves and underground warehouse parties that were taking place during the late 80's/early 90's.
In the late 80's Stefanie began a 5 year residency playing at The Café (San Marcos) and helped quickly catapult it onto the club scene map. She also spent 5 years as a resident DJ at the infamous Detour (rip) while also holding residencies at the EndUP , Product (1015 Folsom), DNA, The Stud, VSF/ Oasis, Nightbreak , Kennel Club , Nickies BBQ, Cat Club, Covered Wagon, Holy Cow.
In 1998 she moved to Los Angeles returning to the Bay Area in 2002 , where she returned to the Café for another 2 year residency recreating their infamous Sunday afternoons.
